My children are young yet and will go to public school, but I'm wondering what I can do to help them develop, on the side and on vacations, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. What sorts of games and activities encourage this?

We were told to compare and contrast current curriculum (Birth to three matters or Foundation Stage) with educational approaches such as Reggio Emilia, High-scope , Montessori, etc. I have no idea what to do. Any teachers or student teachers out there, PLS help!. I know what the approaches and curriculum are about, but i do not know their similarities and differences.

I must discuss the topic for 10 minutes, without notes. It must be a topic related to music education. My university is big on critical pedagogy. I'm also a singer so the topic I would speak about would be more on the lines of a choral setting or general music class setting, opposed to a band or orchestral setting. Any topics and or books that you can recomend to me would be greatly appreciated!

How Do I Tell My Teacher to Not give me too much homework? So Far this week, I have been doing 23 to 29 hours of homework in just 5 days. I have been sleeping late (11pm or 12am) just on finishing my homework with maybe a 30 mintute brake for sleeping an eating. Then the next day I wake up at 6:20 for school. I dont want my teachers to get mad or anything but Its just getting a little too stressful. Im getting tension hedaches and my backpack gets a little too heavy to carry (20 lbs the most) and I usually get more homework than the school next to us that holds the 7th and 8th graders (Im in 6th Grade). So far since ive ate Salad last week because its one of the fastest foods I know how to make (and I enjoy it). I cant handle it anymore! I need a brake (Saturdays and Sundays arent enough. I still do at least 2 hours of homework each weekend. The last thing is that I cant believe the 8th graders on our bus get less homework than I do) HELP!!! And I dont have free period or studyhall.

Is it instilling previously prooved ideas into a student's mind or to allow them room for developing some of their own? I have had both types of teachers, and i like the latter better. What is your opinion?
