Our center is looking for ways to allow staff to take vacation time and have always gone by 1st requests but some teachers feel this is not fair.

When I worked in childcare the policy was a combination of seniority along with date of request. In addition, there were never allowed to be more that 3 staff people off on the same day(s).

I think it is fair. if you want a vacation you have to put in for it early. Ya sometimes you may not get it but odds are that if you are planning a vacation you should have your request in about 3 weeks before to ensure your time off. If someone put in there time before you well tough luck...life aint a bowl of cherries.
