I'm writing my own plan for a school district. I'd love to hear opinions from students, teachers, and parents alike. What are some things you like about the district you are in and what are some things you would change?

When I was young there was a little thing to say that made you remember what months had 31 days. I cant remember it for the life of me. My daughter is trying to learn about that right now and I think it would be helpful for her. Does anyone know it????

Should I dance with the cheerleaders?
I am a male 8th grade English teacher and for our winter sports pep rally they asked about 5 of the teachers to perform a skit with the 7th and 8th grade cheerleaders. Its supposed to be in fun but part of the skit is to lift the cheerleader up high. This might sound crazy but I am a little uncomfortable putting my hand on this cheerleaders butt. I know she will be wearing shorts underneath but still. Is this a little weird or am I out of line thinking its weird?

-about how much did you get paid (i realize ever school district is different)

-about how often were you called to sub (i know it all varies)

-if you turned them down, was there a fear that they wouldn't call as much??

also, could you tell me any other pertinent info about your experience with substitute teaching? thanks.

i am looking for a p/t job that is pretty consistent, but flexible enough that if i need a certain day off then i can just say "sorry, i can't today". make sense??

thanks!

I am a student that will be a teacher and I have been taught to get as much free stuff as possible. Since I will not have classes this summer and only working, I figured that I would collect stuff for my classroom.

SO

Can you please give me websites that allow me to print up worksheets or games or ideas? Thanks! :)

I'm doing a five minute lesson for some job interveiws coming up, and as I am a genetics major and would like to be teaching high school level science, I would like to have a lesson plan/idea that works for that level. In particular, I would like to do a lesson on some aspect of DNA. Any ideas from the people out there that I can add to ideas I already have?

Had a few training sessions on this and am wondering if there are teachers out there who have tried this in their own classes. I am rather sceptical about its success if this is imposed on kids between the ages of 6-8. What's your view?

We are reading a novel and they are getting bored. We have read silently and aloud (students taking turns or I read to them). They have split into groups and read specific paragraphs to tell the other class members what they read in order to put the story together (jig sawing) etc. Anyone have some ideas on getting the text off the page and into their heads?
I'm not looking for strategies (like determining means of words). Nor am I looking for pre/ post reading activities. Just looking for ways to make the actual reading part a little more interesting.
Can you help?

the situation is you are placed to a class of people or can we say a very intelligent students with different but extraordinary skills and talents that deals with the cognitive and psycho motor part of a human. On the first place you are happy because your teacher believes that you can do what those others in that star section can do. But suddenly after putting your self to that place your afraid that you cannot do it all alone and you will feel helpless....
