Every country has child protection laws, or not. Look into what they are in yours. Do you have a Department of Social Services who could perhaps guide you in this matter? Who handles child abuse cases in Australia? Those are the go to people to begin with.

If that happened here, the DSS would have been called in a NY minute, not to mention the School Board for that particular school system. While some form or corporal punishment may be allowed in some private schools (like a ruler to the hand), hitting on the head, yanking children around is not and is tantamount to child abuse.

It is your duty as a responsible parent and cicizen of the world to report this heinous behaviour. The authorities must begin an investigation, and I am sure that you are not the only person who witnessed this tragedy. There are the children who see this all the time and think that they can't do anything about it - but you can!

Speak for them who cannot!

I was brought up in South Africa and had a teacher who used to hit us on the back of the head when we didnt answer her. If we were particulary bad we were sent off to the principles office for a spanking. My brother nor I are violent people because of this but now that I have children of my own.. its different. If i know a teacher even touches my child thats it. I will def. loose it. In your case you got the principle involved so you cant really go to him and complain. Why not get other parents together and make a decision on what you can all do? Have all the kids get together along with the parents and a social worker, get the children to tell what happened infront of all these witnesses including the principle along with all the other teachers that hit. Ok i hope this idea works. Don't know just an option.

Years ago in Ireland the Nuns and Priests teached in the schools and if a student did something as small as not know a table(multiplication sums eg 5 x 6 =30) they got hit with a ruler on the hand and sometimes they would get terrible beatings.
Nowadays Teachers are not allowed lay a finger on a child which I think should be the case everywhere.
Maybe you could get a few more parents on your side and get together to see what could be done.
Good Luck!

wow. that is pretty serious. Its tricky bc the principle is in on it. Im not sure how the school system works there but if there is a board of education you should be able to tell them. It would be to your benefit if you had more parents on your side. I would try writing a letter to the board of educ. and let them know you are serious about it. I think its great that you are trying to do something. something like that should not be left alone. Good luck!

Since the principal is involved, go to the superintendent of schools and ask the policy on physical abuse in the school. Tell him what is going on. Nothing wrong with going over people's heads.
Good luck.

Why not hit the culprits in the head and see how they like it.I know that it is kosher but hey, the message will get through.
