Should I dance with the cheerleaders?
I am a male 8th grade English teacher and for our winter sports pep rally they asked about 5 of the teachers to perform a skit with the 7th and 8th grade cheerleaders. Its supposed to be in fun but part of the skit is to lift the cheerleader up high. This might sound crazy but I am a little uncomfortable putting my hand on this cheerleaders butt. I know she will be wearing shorts underneath but still. Is this a little weird or am I out of line thinking its weird?

Don't do it, don't do it, don't do it. As a mother of a cheerleader that age I'm begging of you not to do it. It's definately weird and whoever asked you to do it should be shot - such a dumb move - don't do it.

It does not actually matter variety no remember if it fairly is 'out of line' so you might think of it fairly is 'extraordinary' ... yet i think of that in case you fairly do think of it fairly is 'extraordinary' then 'dancing with the cheerleaders' is something you may desire to no longer do, and you may additionally evaluate 'conversing approximately this between the lecturers' and the gang of you are able to decide for no remember if this 'action' could be 'suitable' and supply the scholars the 'stunning thought of excellent habit' or the 'incorrect thought.'

I would definitely say do not do it. There's a reason this is making you uncomfortable. I don't know why they would ask a teacher to step over the line, I thought it was a strict rule that we were never supposed to touch students like that. You seem like a nice guy, since this is bothering you, and I'm sure you'd never do anything inappropriate, but think about what would happen if one of the girls said you did. Your whole life could be ruined. I'd question the whole rally, talk to your supervisor... whose idea was this??

I hear you and don't blame you for feeling uncomfortable in the least. BUT if it is all in fun as you have explained, and they (the Cheerleaders) have asked that you participate I would lean towards doing this to help them out. Just make sure you only do what you have practiced doing. Like NO little hands squeezes when you are holding her up. But if you really are that uncomfortable then maybe you should graciously back out. Good Luck.

I am impressed that in the times we live in now that one even considers the morality of such an act. I firmly believe you should not participate in this manner. One could say it is all in fun or it is acting in skit but these reasons do not make it right to touch another person's body. Even though by today's standards we a may no longer have " Private Parts" there must be boundaries we set up in our lives to preserve our morals and integrity. I believe the fact that you asked this question where many others might not proves that this act would go against your personal standards. I say do not do it.

I agree that it's weird. I'd definitely talk to your principal or ASB director and tell them that.

I'd know I'd be uncomfortable with it, and I'm female.

There's a huge difference between participating in a cheer dance and actually touching a student.

I also know that there are liability issues when cheerleaders are doing lifts. You could start off with that and then explain how you feel uncomfortable with it.

Yeah, it's kind of strange and definitely inappropriate. Tell your teacher/supervisor/principal that you are uncomfortable with it; hopefully they will do something to lessen your discomfort.

You are right on in thinking it's awkward and weird.

I think that would make me uncomfortable too, try to talk to your boss and maybe he can find another teacher to do it. If your forced to do it, try not to think of it as a big deal. The bigger deal you make of it, the bigger it will seem to be. Just brush it off like it's just another day.

If you feel uncomfortable, that's not weird at all. It's your students!
Decline the offer, others will volunteer.

I'm glad you do, that means you have a conscience. If there's a part where you don't have to fondle her buttocks (boy do I love saying that!) then you could take that. If not, I'd say listen to your gut and don't do it. Hope that helps!
