Tell me about your favorite teacher. Tell me the grade, subject, and why they were your favorite (story, influence, etc.). Has this teacher influenced how you are now in anyway?

I'll update later with my answer! :-)

This is happening to me. Even though I am a tenured teacher, I have less seniority, and therefore am getting the axe. It sucks, especially since I now have to find a job in an area where there are not a lot of openings for teachers.

I am a 9th grader living in the state of Tennessee, and my Advanced World History is terrible. She is very unorganized. I have been wainting for 7 weeks to take a quiz that I missed when I was on an excused absence from the principal. I have video on my cell phone of there being books, pens, pencils, etc. being throwm and other students getting kicked the bad part is this is going on while she is IN THE ROOM. Our classes is an hour and a half she may only teach for maybe 35 minutes if we are lucky, because the class will get out of hand. She doesn't give detenions because she doesn't want to stay afterschool. She has also NEVER wrote anyone up. Probably, only four other students and myself are actually trying to learn, BUT I AM BASICALLY BEING DENIED THAT. What can I do? Is she breaking the No Child Left Behind Act? PLEASE HELP :-)

-Well, I know I'm going to have to major in Mathematics. But, its also a manditory class... so what would be different if I majored in it?
-How long does it take to become a teacher? I heard six years in college...I've also heard five years...and I've also heard you can go for four years then take your fifth later after you've already become a teacher
-What other courses would I have to take to be a highschool math teacher besides Mathematics?
-I'm becoming a teacher to help become a sports coach... can I take classes at college at the same time so I can become a coach and a teacher right out of college?

If you can answer anyone of these questions you will be a great help. You don't have to answer everyone. Thanks

I'm going to be moving soon due to my lady's career requirements. Currently, I work in Biotech, and there isn't a lot outside the Bay Area. But I have two undergrad degrees in science (molecular biology and chemical engineering) and I always hear taht there are shortages for teachers in science and math.

Assuming I try to make that transition, what all is required? Is there any way for me to move right into teaching without some grad school first?

And answer particular to Washington state, Oregon, Minnesota, and Colorado are particularly appreciated.

Thank you.

My aspiration is to become a teacher of film (or tv production and mass media) But I'm not sure how to go about doing this. All corses that I have seen so far in secondary education require a dual major such as english, math, etc. As you might have guessed none of these are film. How do I go about accomplishing this goal? What corses should I take? Where should I take them? All the help you could give me on this subject would be greatly appreciated for I am greatly confused.
Thanks,
Baffled Student
