Tell me about your favorite teacher. Tell me the grade, subject, and why they were your favorite (story, influence, etc.). Has this teacher influenced how you are now in anyway?

I'll update later with my answer! :-)

I have 2 big teacher influences in my life. My 1st grade teacher was the one that made me want to be a teacher. She was always very kind and loving. Music was a big part of her classroom. She would have us sing songs at circle time and use music as a transition tool. She had a piano in her classroom!! And still does! I was very sick for a portion of my first grade year and she was always sure to send home things to work on, blank books to write stories, and get well cards from my classmates!
My other influence is my elementary general music teacher. She had a unique way of teaching music. Learning was always fun... we were always moving, playing instruments, or playing a game. Later, in HS, I came back to "shadow" her as part of a senior year experience. It was then that I was sure I wanted to be a music teacher. I still keep in touch with her today.
Those two teachers brightened my path to becoming a teacher myself. I always find myself using their techniques in my classroom!

My favorite teacher was Mrs. Lippestrue. she was both my 1st and 3rd grade teacher; you can imagine how well she knew what my next move was before I made it. When my father passed, when I was 9 years old and in her class, I remember that she attended the funeral. It meant a great deal that my teacher would be there for me at that moment in my life. Mrs. Lippestrue took a personal intrest in who I was as a person, not just a body passsing through her class. Now, as a teacher myself, I make it a point to get to know each of my students on a personal level, not just as a name on a roll sheet.

My favourite teacher was and still is Mrs Priest, my English teacher. She is the strictest teacher in the school and no one else likes her. But I took a shine to her. She taught the middle English class.

my grade 7 teacher mrs. thompson! she was my socials and grammar teacher. i guess i was her favourite in the class. she would always compliment my homework and always make it an example in front of the class. i had just emmigrated to canada during that time, and all that extra attention she was throwing my way helped me relax more around people. she made me feel really confident. in the beginning of the year i was actually a pretty bad student, never studying or doing any homework, but i managed to quickly turn that around and become an A student until now.

My favorite teacher is Mrs. Alcantara. She was our Trigonometry teacher in fourth year highschool. During my third year highschool Geometry, I had the lowest grade because the teacher was boring, and I really didn't understand what she was teaching. But lo and behold, I got the highest grade in my fourth year Trigonometry because Mrs. Alcantara was motivating in her method of teaching. You have to know that Trigonometry is more complicated than Geometry.

However, I am not writing this to blame my Geometry teacher (bless her soul.) I was also to blame for not motivating myself in Geometry.

Mrs. Thomas. She taught US History for Juniors. Even though I was one of those "rebellious" types who got caught smoking etc. she saw something in me that not alot of people saw. She wasn't an easy teacher, but I learned alot! Now I am a junior majoring in history who has made dean's list every semester so far! She definately influenced my decision to major in History. So Thanks Mrs. Thomas!
