I must discuss the topic for 10 minutes, without notes. It must be a topic related to music education. My university is big on critical pedagogy. I'm also a singer so the topic I would speak about would be more on the lines of a choral setting or general music class setting, opposed to a band or orchestral setting. Any topics and or books that you can recomend to me would be greatly appreciated!

How about the pros and cons of teaching a class to sing "Spem in Alium" by Thomas Tallis?

I teach a gifted 6th grade class... almost every student is proficient or highly proficient in art or music. (One of my pianists went to international competition last week. Another pianist placed 5th in state (against 8th graders) in Math Counts last week, another is a cello prodigy, and so on.)
Not only are my kids pretty sharp, the are the most active in our school community. Right now we're doing a big community-based project for NothingButNets.org...

Best of luck!
Mon :-) (I'm a violinist/vocalist as well)

i would discuss how effective music is in teaching. for example when I'm teaching I put music on and kids relax and go with it. I sing sometimes and make my students laugh. I teach them songs that relate to class. example learning the states. that would be more interesting to me.
