I am in 8th grade. I am very nervous about going to High School. I plan on signing up for school of choice, but am not sure what kind of classes would help me!! Any ideas? HELP!! =S

I'm currently working on my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and I teach high school mathematics. I'm considering getting my National Board Certification. What does this entail? How difficult is it? Could I do this while I'm completing my Masters Degree or should I wait until I finish?

I live in a small town in MI and we are having a huge problem in our school. A teacher has been exposed by a fellow facuty member to be very out of line. He has called student's "band fag's" and special education teacher's "tard teacher's. Has used school's email system to talk about topless bar's and much much more. The school board did nothing in fact they made him Athletic director instead.Crossed the line? More on this issue here http://saveoursaxons.com/

I would really love to be a Teacher when I get older. I am very confused on why there is so many people out there that are totally disrespectful to teacher's who are teaching their children. And to all of those people who say that teacher's are poor. There are a lot of jobs out there that make way less than a teacher that have a college education. Who all thinks that teachers get no respect at all?

Okay, so we had this GREAT band teacher for the past two years that everyone loved, but she resigned to be near her family. Everyone hates our new band teacher, including me, and want to switch (we've already had people switch). There's reasons for this too:

a. She tells WAY too inappropriate stories for school
b. She can't handle her students (she always tells the drummers that they "have one more chance, and they're gone." But she never does anything about it... and they end up playing poker in the back of the room.)
c. She sent four of us to the principal's office for something we didn't do... then lied about it.
d. She tells people that the high school trumpets, which is just two of us that we're horrible.
e. She calls the choir potheads, that we party all night, or drink all the time, or do stuff with people (that require losing our v-cards, if you get my drift...)
I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of any right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hey! I just wanted to ask an question. I really want to be a kindergarden teacher.. I just love kids and seeing them grow.. and have always wanted to be a teacher(even though I have a fear of speaking infront of people) and just wanted to know if anyone on here is a Kindergarden teacher and what is it like and all? And do you enjoy it and for college and high school what are some good classes to take? *note i am horrible at Math and writting papers.. lol* I am a junior in High School right now and get somewhat good grades.. I always try and study! So just wanted to know about being Kindergarden teacher!

My educational psychology instructor, who was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years explained to us that she used a system in which she allowed the students to create the class rules. Have you ever tried a system such as this, and if so, how did you go about it. Did you honor every students suggestion, or did you kind of revise the list by merging similar rules into one?

I would like for an experienced Educator, or Educators, to answer this question for me:

I'm interested in being a teacher. I don't want to limit myself to one grade division. By the end of my teaching career, I have a goal to have taught people from all grade divisions (grades Kindergarten through College).

Currently, I am a college student who is completing the Associate in Arts in General Studies. Afterwards, I'm going to pursue the Bachelor of Science in Education (not sure of what specialization yet). And of course, after these degrees, I plan to enter Graduate School in pursuit of the Master degree, then the Doctorate degree (again, I haven't decided in which fields).

Please be sure to include comments about things like:
Health and insurance coverage
Salary
Vacation time
Sick/Emergency/Maternity leave
Continuing Education
And any other relevant benefits of a teaching degree that you can mention.

What amount of time do you put into the day and on what? I know contract times, but how much more than contract time do you normally work? Is it possible to only work contract times and still be a good teacher?

I'm going to sign up for the Middle School Math Praxis test, but I would like to know if anyone else took the test and topics I should really focus on. Were there topics on there you were surprised to see for middle school math? Did you use a good study guide? Math usually comes easy for me, but I'm an elementary school teacher, and I'm sure I need to brush up on some topics.

I'm an elementary education major and lately I've been hearing a lot about behavior management. Several of my instructors have mentioned ignoring bad behaviors and rewarding good behaviors from students. The reason for ignoring bad behaviors that they gave, was that many students are just looking for attention. My question is, how do you determine what kind of behaviors to ignore? Are there certain behaviors that you can't ignore?

Our final for my German I class is a take home kind of project. We could pick from a few different things and I chose a "sports report" and Im doing it on the 41st Super Bowl, XLI. Which is basically just a summary of the game in German.

I have everything covered besides "culture". We have to put "culture" of the Germans into our project somehow; how would I do this? (It doesnt have to be a big thing, it just has to be in the project somewhere)

I m 25 working as Lecturer in a Technical college for the past 5 years. All my friends chosen software after completion of Graduation though it was a lean period (2001-2003) Now they all settled well and going places (Denmark, Aus, NZ, London, Singapore,Japan..etc). I have stuck with the same place, even pay is low, i joined teaching coz i had a love, but now even student are not respecting the staff, since they think they can get placed and go places, they think staffs are some one who is dumb. My dream is to travel around the globe, writer, philospher..etc for that i need to settle well quickly. Now to ask you
1. Should I continue to be in Teaching?
2. Am i too old to look for a career change?

Is releasing people a sin? Suppose some broke rules three times. Now to punish them, why do some community release them?
