this elementary school counselor picked out only these 4 girls ( mexicans ages 7-8) out of 9 girls in this classroom and said they are now a girls club. Then she asked about their parents home life. This same counselor previously labeled a little girl as the divorcee group and others as single mom group. Well she chose my daughter and asked about my life. I feel that if she wants to know about me she should ask me. what do you think? im widowed and it upset my daughter talking about her deceased father.

I am guessing that with a bachelor's degree in education you can only teach and maybe move up in position after many, many years. But I have heard that this is different for teachers with masters degrees. I have heard that you can move up to counselor and principal within 2-3 years, plus it is said that if you keep teaching with a master's your pay raises a lot. Is all of this true? And can anyone tell me about the master's degrees in education and the different types and how long it would take? I am asking all of this because I am thinking about majoring in secondary education, but I do not know if I would get a master's degree or not afterward, is it worth it financially? I would appreciate any responses concerning this question and anything about the field of education and advancement in it.

I'm doing a debate, a 5 minute speech, and chose this as my topic. Which side should I choose to explain which came first? And if you could, leave a lot of info so I can talk about it for 5 minutes. :)

I have a few male students who have crushes on me and they sometimes openly harass me. I document all these issues and I tell them it's not appropriate and to stop. Some of them have backed off and some just won't stop. I'm a first year teacher, so I'm wondering what the proper avenue is. Should I take these students to my administrators, i.e., principal, assistant principal, etc.? Should I call their parents? What should I do?

There isn't a doubt that science is the future. There is nothing else more essential for the advancement of society in the long run. The only way America can remain at the top is if it's science and technology is the most advanced. The problem is, from my experiences in high school, it seems as if many students just don't seem to be interested or motivated to pursue careers in science. This problem is becoming ever more pressing, with other countries catching up to us economically, and now with grant cuts and research restrictions imposed by the US government. How can we motivate these students to pursue careers in science?

A classmate helped a teacher grade papers and made a scene to another child about a bad grade she had made on a test. How should I handle this? this child is already a trouble maker. Her mom is narcissistic.(seriously) I'm sick of this child. She's always making remarks like "my mom isn't stupid enough to pay for Hollister and abercrombie clothing. Please help. My kids are quite and don't know how to come back at her. Grading papers has done it for me.These are 6th graders. I pay too much money to have to put up with this. The mom is also a trouble maker so it seems this child gets added attention (PET)to keep the mother at bay. This child actually walks around saying "I'M PERFECT". I need good mature advice please.
