I'm a little lost as to what to look for as far as studying goes. what were the major developments in literature? Sorry the question isn't more specific..it's all the guide would give me = (

While observing a 3rd grade class, the teacher sent all the students to their centers and then just sat and read the newspaper. What would you do in this situation? Should I just remain silent or is this even an issue?

While evaluating answers to 'Solve any five' type of questions, it becomes difficult to go thro' entire answer sheet(specially where students REWRITE answer on some other leaflet to have an advantage of scoring 'double' for same answer) and check if ONLY FIVE DISCRETE ANSWERS have been considered for the total and whether the five considered, are only those, which total up to MAXIMUM score for that particular question. Asking students to solve in proper sequence or on one single answer sheet would be unfair to them. What to do? Any ideas on how to fix it right in comparatively lesser amount of time?

I'm teaching 5th grade and for the most part I love it. It's only my first year teaching and things have started out well. Now, however, the children have become more lazy than they were in the fall. They are disrespectful and the majority of them just don't care.

I have trouble believing my students care about their work. I believe they lack any responsibility--and they're fine with it. It isn't just with me, the other three 5th grade teachers are finding the same thing.

What is wrong with today's youth? No respect for teachers or each other... I don't get it and I don't know what to do about it.

Just wondering if a teaching degree is required to teach technical courses such as web design / development. I am thinking of pursuing teaching as a part-time job in a local community college or things like like. I am in sydney, australia. Any info will be highly appreciated.

I really love history, and sometimes I just sit with a bunch of my high school peers and give them lessons on history, mainly on the power of women throughout history, and they love it. I would love to just teach people about history for a living because I love it so much and I love learning about it and reading about what has happened long ago, but I cannot stand people who don't want to learn, which you really only get in elementary and high schools. If I were to be a teacher, I would only want to be a professor at a college. I was just wondering if it's possible to jump straight into being a professor, or if you HAVE to teach lower grades first?

That teachers either got a low grade on their degree or chose to teach because they 'couldn't handle' other jobs?

Working as a teacher I have seen several people come from 'the real world' and then quit a little later because they couldn't hack it. Usually they come in very arrogant, assuming that it will be easy, that schools are full of people who failed their degrees, and that they'll be better than us. Then they quit/have a breakdown.

When I worked in the city, people who couldn't hack it didn't choose to teach. Many of them had shoddy generic degrees and cried over the tiniest thing, yet would repeatedly say teachers were second-rate/weak/bitter.

The majority of teachers have 2:1 degrees or higher, have worked in the 'real world' for some time, and aren't bitter, faded swots.

Where has this myth come from?

I am currently working as a teaching assistant in a school which has recently come out of special measures and has now been awarded 'specialist status' in Technology. I am seriously thinking about training up as a teacher. However my school has a lot of politics going on and I want to know if this happens in any other school? Teachers - do you enjoy your job or do you regret the day you went to teacher training college?
