I'm prepping for a huge state exam. The study guide said we need to know about the major developments in literature. I'm a little lost as to what to look for as far as studying goes. what were the major developments in literature? Sorry the question isn't more specific..it's all the guide would give me = (

I believe that if you look into the different periods; Renaissance, Baroque, etc. then you will see WHY that period was unique and had a specific name. I have studied literature and art of Spain and each time period had a particular theme. It was usually fueled by changes in culture and technology.

Remember that the beginning stories were told by people who would sing them. After a while some of them were written down. That is basically the beginning. Then the types of stories changed over the centuries. My knowledge is basically about Spain though, so I suggest that you research each time period and just make a short summary to study.
