I am interested in becoming a third grade teacher or a registered nurse. I have found a nursing program that is about 2 years in length. I would like to find a similar length program for teaching.

Any Ideas?

What particular questions can I put on the questionnaire to determine how signiicant is the role of gender in terms o how college students chose their major fields of study. For an instance, is it really true that females tend to gravitate more towards English and Language and Males towards Math and Science?

I'm an elementary school teacher. I'm looking for a math CD-ROM or online math portal that will allow my students to: (1) Practice their basic math skills, (2) Allow me to track their progress and (3) Provide additional practice before they can go on to the next level of difficulty.

I am a grade 3 teacher and I am astounded at what is happening to our kids. I have girls that are already maturing at the age of 8 and have older boys flirting with them. They are already having body image issues and feeling fat. I have boys who are trying to impress the girls and talking about how "Hot " other girls are and about the girls bodies. (Grade 3 as well). I have overheard grade 6 girls discussing sex acts they have partaken in with random guys and grade 4's who have been drunk and drink beer. (One could describe the drunken effects perfectly). I have watched students gang up in a mob to fight another child like teenagers. A study was just put out in our area the by the age of 13 boys have veiwed too many pornagraphic videos to count.(via the internet) I am concered about the sexualization of children and am scared for them. I wish they could experience a real childhood without all this adult stuff. How can I get over it and teach without feeling like I want to protect them?

Most of them had no idea what this even meant!! They had no idea how to use a reference library, had never seen the yellow pages and didn't have a clue how to use it, and had never read a local newspaper. Is this just a bit scary? Do we need to get back to teaching good old fashoined research techniques?I think this is a pretty urgent problem.

I mean it's ok to help them out , but I've noticed a lot of them get on here (especially young ones) and get their answers. Is that really helping them, or are they just writing down what they read and not really learning? I'de be interested to here what teachers have to say.

I have my own methods (e.g. using magazines, Internet sources), but would be grateful for fresh ideas. I'm teaching on a voluntary basis at the moment and can't afford to study more. All my skills are ten years old. I did teach English in Japan a long time ago.

I don't think our teachers really care about us. I used to hate my teacher, then I stopped lhating her. But everytime I don't say "hi" to her, she has an attitude. She told me she cared about me, but it doesn't seem like she does when she ignores me for not speaking to her. Why do yall even teach? Being mean and strict is not showing that you care about your students. If yall really loved and cared about us, you would be nice and tell us on a weekly (or monthly) basis.

I would like to do an active citizenship project with my grade 6/7 class, but I won't be able to start it until April. Does anyone have any ideas for a simple but interesting project that can be completed in three or four weeks? We will be studying child labour, so if it could tie into that topic it would be nice, but it's not absolutely necessary.

Thank you for your help!
