How are other students in your class doing? Probably if no-one in your class is not doing well or is not satisfied the way they are learning things, then problem lies with your teacher. Why don't you ask your teacher how does she arrive at the solution of the problem? Ask her what helps her decide that ONLY a particular process would lead her to the solution. If the way she arrives at the solution is not very familiar to you, then may you could ask her for an explaination. It might be possible that she assumes some topics are already taught to you and you have mastered all the topics very well or probably she assumes that her way of explaination is simple and appropriate for you to understand. Its very important for you to convey her that she needs to simplify things more, give you more examples and non-examples, sufficient practice etc before you get a tutor to teach you. Please keep asking her questions till you have concepts mastered well. Gap in understanding is bound to increase at higher education levels. This is your ONLY TIME!

Yes, tutoring is a good idea. Different teachers have different styles and personalities and sometimes you just don't click with them which makes it really hard to learn.
When I was in college I always enrolled in one extra class so I could drop a class if I didn't like a teacher or thier style.

You could ask a friend for help or another math teacher in your school. Have you asked your teacher to show you how it's done?

maybe you need to get you a tutor for extra studying maybe it is that you don't get the rules and you need to know them to get your algebra work correct. And the teacher has told you all that he/she can and you may be the one that just don't have it not the teacher.
