Dear Ms/Mr _____,
I apologise but I'm afraid I will not be able to attend [insert class] on Wednesday afternoon, 28 Feb.
I have a scheduled interview that afternoon for [name of course], in [preferably tell him where it is]. I signed up for this course because I believe it is vital in helping me in improving my school studies. [or if this is not the reason, then give some other short explanation.]
I sincerely hope that you will take this into account and pardon my absence for Wednesday's lesson.

Regards,
[your name, class]

Something along the lines of "Sorry, but I won't be able to attend [insert class] on [insert date] because of [insert good reason]. If it is possible, can I make up the work that I miss on that date? Sincerely, [insert name]

I really like the second one. I would also add:

I can email any assignments to you or drop them off in your mailbox at the office. If there is anything additional that I should do please let me know and I will be sure to get it done.
