I'm currently working on my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and I teach high school mathematics. I'm considering getting my National Board Certification. What does this entail? How difficult is it? Could I do this while I'm completing my Masters Degree or should I wait until I finish?

You will have a lot of writing, and researching. It not really to hard . It is very time consuming. I would not try it while working on your Master.wait. If you have a family or children It's tough. I know I have been there. Best of luck to you.If you do not pass it the first time you can take it over.

I would wait until you finish. I have heard that it is extremely difficult and that every aspect is examined. One of the most challenging parts is the filing and organization. If you are prepared for that part then you should do okay. Be sure to ask someone who has their certification to look over your portfolios to spot errors for you.

I have known wonderful teachers who have failed, and I have known some pretty bad teachers who actually pass. It is all about how well you present yourself in the folders.

I say go for it, but do it when you do not have other challenging things going on.
