My wife's kindergarten kids can spell and punctuate better than you are doing! I suggest a bunch more language classes....that'll help you get into college, too!

First of all, don't worry about your fear of speaking in front of others. I had the same problem, still do really, but once you are forced to do it in student teaching, you will be fine. Plus, it is completely different when YOU are the teacher. I am not a kindergarten teacher, but I have substituted in a lot of kindergarten classes. It can be a wonderful experience, but just like any other grade, it depends a lot on the students you have from year to year. One year you might love it, and the next year you can be pulling your hair out! You should keep working on your writing, maybe get a tutor, because that is very important for an education major in college. Also, you should be open to teaching other grades as well, even if you just think about the lower grades, because it is very difficult to get a job in one specific grade. You may have to teach another grade before you get to the one you really want. I wanted kindergarten too, but I haven't gotten it yet! Good luck in everything, and keep studying!

Don't assume that because you know everything a kindergartener should you can be a good kindergarten teacher. Being a former K-teacher I would suggest volunteering in your own elementary school to see if it's truly right for you.

More important than grades and schooling is location. I'm sure if you put your mind to it you will be able to study hard and pass a teachers education program. However, before becoming certified decide where you want to live. If you're from the northeast chances are good, it will be very difficult to find a job. For each elementary teaching position there are several hundred applicants. And often you don't know what grade level you are applying for, nor will you have the choice to choose what grade level you will teach if you get the job. On the other hand, a lot of southern states are desperate for teachers. If you live there or would not mind moving then go for a teaching degree.

I don't want to discourage anyone who truly cares for children to become a teacher, but make sure that's what you are truly meant to do.

Well, you cant just go to school to become a kindergarten teacher. In my state, washington, it is k-8 or k-12 degrees. So you have to take classes that prepare you to teach grades k through eight or through twelve. I also was never good at math and college math did seem hard. You dont get the teaching k-8 math until you have already gone to school for the first two years and then you work on the teaching classes. I recommend that you take as much math as possible in highschool, dont just take the required two years or whatever your school requires, thats what i did and when i got to college, had to spend extra money starting at below college level and retaking classes. Kindergarten is a great age to teach, I love it!

Hey!

i just love the fact that you love kids. Because I love kids too. That's why I am telling you that it is so much fun to be a kg teacher. Because my aunt is a kg teacher. But don't be mean with them.
