I have a friend who became a zoologist. She had to take a lot of science/marine biology type courses at the university. Then she did an internship at a zoo. She could not have become a zoologist without studying at the zoo and she spent about a year doing it. She loved it and had a lot of interesting stories to tell.

Check with a local school, but also ask at some zoos for information. She had to go to Florida to a special teaching zoo. Not all zoos are teaching zoos.

You will need to go to college and receive a Bachelor of Science degree. Although if you go after a Master's of Science you will have an upper hand on most candidates that apply. Next put your application in at the zoos you would like to work at.
If you want to be a Zoologist, then you should volunteer at your nearest zoo. You volunteering experience will go a long way to helping you obtain a job after college.
