Is it just me or do people have a bad habit of mispelling words and not using proper grammar? I see a lot of grammatical errors nowadays as well as people using "there" instead of "their" and vice versa. This is mostly among the young adult, teen-age populaton.

Is the education system on English and grammar failing our kids or are they just not paying attention? The elementary school I attended back in the 80s and 90s was unfailingly strict with the English language, going so far as to requiring students (2nd through 8th grades) to complete homework assignments known as "dictation" (students had to write different sentences over and over again). I admit that this helped me shape my grammatical usage as well as the grasp of the English language. Schools should implement this to help kids improve their language skills.

Still, I have a low tolerance for people who cannot write English properly, with the exception of those with learning disabilities.

Any thoughts?

EXAMPLE: last year, my cousin (in 4th grade) had to supply 60 (yes, that's what the list said) #2 pencils...at 30 kids in the class, that 180 pencils! I doubt very seriously the class went through that many pencils during the year!!!

I have two sons that are going into the 10th & 7th grade. I'm a single mother and over the next 2yrs, (starting in March 08) I'm going to be doing A LOT of traveling for my job and I don't really have a choice. My boys have chosen that they want to go to a boarding school and with funds left from their father, we would be able to pay for it. I'm not looking for anything military, socialization, religious or behavioral improvement school, just an ordinary leveled school for my boys. It doesn't matter where in the continental US because we are willing to move near the school so they can come home when I am home.
I was wondering if anyone had advice about one/suggestions? Maybe attended one? Or would be willing to help me look through this list I found online. I have to make decisions/deposits in Sept to get them in by Jan which doesn't give me a lot of time.
I can post the website and a little info about what I'm looking for if you e-mail me or ask on here. Thanks very much

Who is over the public school system as a whole, meaning for the whole USA? How can I go about contacting them about problems with a school board system in my parish and state?

I love to sing when no one is around, I think I sound good, I sound good in choir to. I am taking choir in school, I went to open house today, and my choir teacher told me that I will have to sing alone in front of everybody in choir, she kept telling me everyone has to do it. But I am still freakin' scared! I bombed the auditions for High School Musical play at my school, but since it was a school thing I got in and became a cheerleader. How do I face my fear without turning red!?!?!!?? PLEASE HELP!!!

I've been working as a private teacher for a while, I teach Spanish and Japanese as a second language. Things had been great, so great I'm starting a bsuiness. It looks like my business is going to eventually make me some good money, but for now I'm broke. I really need money.

Someone must've referenced me, out of nowhere, I got a call from a school offering me a teaching job.
I said YES, but they told me that tomorrow I had to go talk to some sister. I then I began to remember I once went to that school.
It's all full of saints and Catholic images. I'm a Methodist, I just wouldn't be comfortable there, and I really don't want to have to tell my pastor I'm working at a Catholic private school.

On one hand, I need the money, on the other hand I wouldn't be comfortable there.

What should I do?

I'm an EFL student, and can't consult a teacher since it's summer break. So anyways, someone pointed out to me that I can't use "me and my sisters", that I must use "my sisters and I". I need to know which rule the person is referring to, so I can learn it. What other sentences abide by this rule? Thanks

I took spanish for 2 years of high school. but I'm not taking spanish this year, because I need to satisfy my arts credit. So will it look bad that I took a foreign language for only 2 years of high school?

Since i was 5 years old i have dedicated all my time to basketball. I have had personal coaches paid by my parents & have won at the national level at many ages. My high school team won state championship last year. I am ranked at the top 50 at the highschool level even though i am a freshman, & am considered a child prodigy since the age of 12. The problem is that people feel intimidated by my presence & i dont know what to do. My only friends are some of my teammates Whenever i walk into a room, like the cafeteria, people stare at me. I started taking mixed martial arts 1 year ago because Older guys than me always want to start fights & try to beat me up. As a result I have been suspended from my schools 3 times. The principle told me if it happens again, i will be expelled from the school. I dont know why they pick on me so much. It's not like i am short or cocky, cocky maybe a little but not that i go telling people that i am better so i dont see what is the prob what should i do??
