Yes, uniforms can be mandatory, however; you should approach your school and let them know you have a problem with affording them. There should be some guidelines in line to assist with purchasing the required items. No school wants to see a child fail especially over clothes so please seek out help to get the items needed. You can also contact local churches for assistance too or perhaps the teachers union can even help or refer you to someone.

Yes, it's legal, but if it's a public school, they have to make some concessions due to economic need, or it's discrimination. You child could be bussed to another district, you could be investigated by Social Services, you could tell them you're an illegal alien and your daughter is not, so either way they go, they'll have to pay.
In the long run, uniforms are cheaper for parents. Usually you can get material and make, or have made, 2 or 3 uniforms which should last a year or more, then trade them with someone who has need of a smaller uniform for a bigger one. There should be an exchange. Check with parents' group, school, and used clothing stores, you could find a real deal.

Yes, it's legal. Lots of schools do it . Stop complaining and it's illegal and stupid to not have your child go to school because of that (the law in Ohio I know is that ALL children from ages 6-18 HAVE TO GO TO SCHOOL BY LAW!

Yes, it can be required. There may be a way that the school or the local school board can help you with this. Give them a call - that's what they are there for. Good luck!
