just be yourself and talk to people in your classes, usually everyone wants to get to know everyone and make new friends so you shouldn't have any trouble if you just be yourself and be a like-able person thats easy to talk to. if theres a group of people you might want to know, just go up to them and introduce yourself and maybe ask a little about them. high school is so much fun! good luck!

Don't be nervous. You didn't feel any different when you turned 13 or 14 the next day, right? A summer simply isn't going to change much. It's just like middle school with more jerks and more nasty rumors. The upperclassmen isn't all that bad at all! Most of them would look out for new freshmen, so don't worry about them! Just let it all go and have fun!

However, a few things you could do are....
* be with your friends. You are not alone, and they are nervous about high school too!
* be outgoing, give a good first impression, introduce yourselves
* pick a great outfit on the first day and eat a healthy breakfast so you feel good about yourself
* Listen to your favorite relaxing music on the way to school, it really calms your nerves down!

The best advice I can give you is that just be yourself. You are not the only freshman who is new to the high school life. Really, the media over-dramatize high school life. It's a great experience and just be yourself! Put a bright smile on your face and you'll do just fine. Good luck! =)

Wise up. When I say wise up, I mean for you to decide at this very moment that no one is more intelligent than you and go all out for straight A's. You're not as scared as you think. You need to spend some time standing in front of a mirror telling yourself that you are the best and most intelligent person you know. A little pat on the back, goes a long way. I should know because it took a better part of two years for me to build up my confidence. I had the help of my friends. Don't be scared, just be yourself and go for the best. I know your probably saying this guy just doesn't know me. I do, because it was me at one time. I now have some post graduate work in law.

My freshmen year, another school opened up, and almost everyone on my friends went to that school, I was terrified, honestly the best way is to get involved in something..i no most parents say that but its true I ran cross country and met tons of people, and if its not a sport that you've ever played thats fine, you will see that theres other freshmen that will also be comming out and never played, they have freshmen teams so you can learn and have fun, if its a sport you do play like me with soccer, you might have a chance to be on JV or Varsity and meet other people also, you have to realize that there are alot of people in your same spot, be outgoing, try not to be really shy...clubs are also really good, you find people that have same things in common with you...so you get along well...i'll be a senior this year, and my freshmen year was the year that I met all of my amazing friends that i have now....high school is the best years of your life!!! You'll love it.

Read all of the answers here and also look at past answers. I saw this question last year. Remember the people in the upper grades felt just like you do now when they first went to high school. Remember the universal language is a smile.

Sure. You have two paths you can take.

You can keep your head down, afraid to look anyone in the eye, keep quiet in classes and end up hating going to school every day.

Or you can be yourself, try to be at least a bit outgoing, say things that come to your mind in class discussions, and make friends that you look forward to seeing at school each day.

Don't be disappointed if you don't instantly connect with someone. It may take days, or even weeks, to find some people you have things in common with, but if you put yourself out there, you'll be sure to make friends.

Just remember that 1/4 of all the students feel the same way that you do, most don't even know who you are, so don't look like a deer caught in the head lights and no one will be the wiser, just be yourself, stay nice and don't talk about others ! Unless it's to say something nice.

Go.
You can make friends by trying. Talk to people in your classes. Talk to people between classes. Join after school activities. Look around for people who look like they need someone to talk to. Be friendly with everyone, but choose your friends carefully. Make sure they are the kind of kids who share your values.

I would recommend that you visit your local library and read some books on how to develop friendships. You will get some ideas you can use.

Quick, I know a friend who built a time machine. I'll have him send it over and you can perpetually stay in the past and never advance yourself at all.
Really, High School was a nice leap and college was the best. But you have to go through High School to get to college. All the parties, advanced learning pace, and new people are the great things about college life.

Thou shalt think for thyself. And thou shalt always...not worry about bullshiit, even though you will anyway. Just try getting through it and realize that this place you're going to is nothing more than a place to waste your time before entering the work world. Think for thyself. I don't care how many bad thumbs I get or however many people tell you it's wrong. Think for thyself. Always.

I dont' care if beefeater coccksucker jock pounds you. Think for thyself. FUUck yahoo answers. Think for thyself. Always. END.
