Not at an orientation you are sitting in a class. Your parents should go to orientation because they may have to sign papers, and also take a good look of the school and meet teachers. My orientation (9th grade 06-07) well we only got our textbooks, schedule, and id pictures. But now i'm in 10th/.

When I was in ninth grade, yes you would sit down listen to the teacher speak, and then they would ask you questions. Your entire time in high school you will be asked questions and expected to answer by raising your hand.

Ninth grade orientation isn't something I'd ask my parents to take off from, I'd prefer they'd go to work.

They're just gonna introduce how to read ur schedules, agendas and then they give u a tour and do activities to help u get to know ur new classmates better (which IMO doesnt help much) If ur school said to bring ur parents then maybe...? Anyways... in my school ppl brought their parents but the parent never entered the school... so i guess that counts as not bringing the parents XD You don't have to bring anything with you except for the money for ur registration. Yes.. it will take the same time that a normal day at school takes.
