I attended private school through 12th grade. I now teach in the public school system. Private schools are definately superior in environment, rules and most of all.. academics.
Public schools are of course free and have a larger pool of people. Jr high and highschool in general can be socially harsh. IT is the nature of kids that age. I would have to recommend private school. While your environment will be more structured and regulated. The superior academics and safe environment should be worth it.

Every school has drug dealers and all that stuff. I go to a public high school and it is excellent! It has been named top public high school in my area numerous times and often gets higher than the private schools. Alot of people who go to private schools say nasty stuff about public schools and maybe your sister is trying to scare you? I dont know. Its totally your decision though! Obviously I dont know the schools your choosing between so I cant really say much but im just saying that not all public schools are bad and that you should look into it a bit more!

I believe that your sister is telling you stories to entertain you and herself. Her high school is not harboring rapists, and probably not drug sellers, either. If it was, you'd be reading about it in your newspaper.
Your sister might be anxious for you to go to a different school for her own special reasons: perhaps she has had adventures there that she'd prefer that you didn't know about.
There's generally no great educational advantage in most private schools, and a larger public high school may afford you more opportunities for other activities.

I wouldnt advise you to go to a private school it keeps you from learning what the real world is all about . I took both my children out of public school because,I thought I wasdoing whats best for them .I was wrong to do that my daughter has since graduated & wishes she had the opportunities that her friends had . I enrolled my son back in public school this year he:s been in school 3 weeks now I can tell you he;s learned more already this year than all 5 years he ;s gone to private school. If I had it to do over Iwouldnt have taken them out of public school ,they take more breaks than they have classes the teachers dont take time to help the children they use most of their time to gossip &talk about the parents.

Hey Girly have you considered home schooling ? It's wonderful ! Of course this may not be the best route for you,but I would atleast consider the option and research It. You're more relaxed and able to concentrate more on your schoolwork,no distractions. In about 3 or 4 hours ...you're done for the day...Just an Idea.Honey, after you get through school your friends will be headed In different directions.Remember...You do what's best for you ,because you're the one that has to live with the choice you make, not your friends.....Good Luck..

no matter where you go to school, there will be kids who do drugs and other bad things, regardless of whether the school is public or private. there might be less of it at a private school, but for sure it will be there. you'll be fine as long as you recognize that and avoid bad situations.
you should make out a list of pro's and con's for the two schools. a public school generally has more diversity, but a private school may have a higher caliber of education.
good luck with your decision!

I have friends that went to a private school and they hated it, but public school isn't all that much better. For all you know, people in the private schools are doing the same things as the ones in public school. It's really up to you, but you know don't have to go to the same school as your sister. You could go to a better high school where people are more mature and less violent.

I advice you to go to the private school. You would be safer if you study there, and since it is a catholic school, you would really discover that Cathholic schools are cool, and helpful to our lives. I should know because I study in a Catholic School.
Anyways, good luck!

I went to a public school... you get the same education as a private school but you are spoonfed information less... your success will be up to your will.
As for drug sellers you get them at all schools, but some are 'hidden' better than others. Rapists?? well i cant say i've heard of that in public schools before... Im in Australia though so things may be different if you arent talking about our schooling system
