I am increasingly noticing a demise in the use of spelling a word correctly or even to make it sound correct. Why is this not being addressed by teaching staff?

I teach 5th grade in the US. I would like to get a British social studies\history book for comparison (from the same grade level). Actually, I wouldn't mind having a German one too, but I assume it would be in German, and wouldn't do me any good. Anyways, since I have no idea who publishes textbooks in Britain, any leads, titles, etc. would be helpful. Thanks.

I think it should because kids arent' getting enough sleep and they can't focus on school work. There is less car crashes when students start later because they don't fall asleep at the wheel. There are less dropouts and people absent because they don't miss the bus, and they get to sleep in!

Why is it when you look through the answers of questions, (I do mean the serious ones where the asker is genuinly interested in a clear concise answer), there are some idiots who insist on composing their answers in a text message format that they have habitualised through using mobile phones.

Don't they know how to perform written English? Are they so poorly educated?

There is usually plenty of room to formulate an answer and most of the answers I am referring to are no where near the limit to the extent where this abbreviated form of jibberish code is necessary.

Is it because they are fundamentally illiterate, or are they trying to be clever. It certainly doesn't impress me. I think that it is very chavish and stupid.

For goodness sake I wish these morons would grow up and use the education that they have been afforded.

Does anyone agree with me or am I on my own?

Sensible, intelligable, unabreviated, full worded answers welcomed!

I have a big maths exam coming up and I'm really stuck...

I'm usually good with revising because I can remember facts and stuff easily but with maths its different!

I just can't get it all to stick in my head. I'm really bad at memorising formulas and that kind of thing.

What can I do to remember it all?

My daughter is having a science fair in March and I have no ideas for a project. I want something interesting and educational that kids would get. But I want her to get all the ooohh's and ahhh's too. I don't want to do anything too easy so she can get a good grade. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

I have a big family and in the space of two days, two of my sisters became victims of bullying and now they don't want to go to school and my brother has been bullied before in the past.

I want to do something about it but we've already tried most things and nothing seems to work.

What can i do to make a real difference here?

I know that your job has to be very hard at times. I do know that at times you do have to take a deep breath. BUT, have you ever told your students that they were stupid, told them they were like talking to brick walls, cursed in anger, threw a chair across the room, told them their hand writing made you sick at your stomach or singled them out infront of the class to degrade them?
