I need to know about outstanding high schoolers and need articles on examples of such. People who work in areas like community service, technology, or something along the lines of child prodegy.

I really need the source article.

Im doing my GCSEs and have come across a rift in my school/personal life. I am an academic and a bit of a "boffin." I like to learn and do well, & so do my friends. I also feel that academics are one of my strongest points where I want to do well in. I dont mean that I dont have a life! and I do like to have fun...!! Howere I have now found that my education has really gone down hill this term as I cant be bothered 2 do anything when I come home. I often end up just wasting days, and due to a slip in my concentration and general standards, as well as some other things that have been happening, I get "pi**d off" a lot, almost every day. Ive always been coming home and been in a really cr*p mood due to this slip, & Im not sure how I can regain the confidence or will power to carrry on. Please help me as to how I can start rebuilding this so that I can get bak to normal. How can I say "rite I must get better at all this" and build confidence in me again. Thanks sooo much i really want help

Same old story. No respect from kids and parents. Paid peanuts. But this year is a constant struggle to stay positive. It is obvious to the kids too.
Should I not take it all to heart, and will that mean I am not suited to remain a teacher?

Hi there,

A rather upsetting day today.......a 13 year old girl made me, a teacher, cry in class. She insulted me personally, my lessons, my abilities and what I did the day before. The worst part is, when she saw me distressed, she smiled and said "did I make you cry?". It is really not her actions that upset me, but the fact that she derived pleasure from seeing my distress.

What is it that make some children cruel and lack empathy? Some children are lovely and kind but with others - I'm at a loss to explain. I believe I treat them fairly and I am always prepared to play games with them to make the lesson fun and exciting, but some of the students seem to delight in making teachers suffer.

I am sorry and sad, I like teaching and I like sharing what I know with children. However, this young lady of 13years has really hurt me and I am doubting that I'll return to school come Monday.

Is it nature? Nurture? A lack of discipline during upbringing?

my daughter is taking swimming lessons at school and i got very concerned the other day by somethiing she told me. she said it took her a while to get dressed the other day as she had to take a shower so her teacher told her to carry her coat and shoes from the baths to the bus outside therefore she was only wearing her socks and no shoes
does anyone else think this is wrong especially in the cold weather we are having at the minute
the day after the teacher took an egg timer and told her and another little girl they had five minutes to shower dry and get dressed
i dont even think i would be able to do this
just wondered if anyone else thought this was wrong
i have an appointment to see the head teacher about this today but just wanted to know what you people out there thought of my dilemma
she also finds it very embarressing in front of her classmates
