There are so many to choose from, salt dough making is always a particular favourite ( google for a recipe ). My kids always like doing things such as potato printing and also making small bugs/animals etc using just pom poms, googly eyes and a few pipe cleaners. Have lots of fun!

We recenty did some Aborigional art with the Brownies. They seemed to love it - gave them an idea about the culture as well as basic art form. Gave everyone the chance to be creative and make up their own symbols eg. for rain, sun etc. Lots of dots and some finger painting! Great fun.

The best thing to do with primary school students is to provide the medium and let them explore it and create from it. You will be amazed at what children can come up with. The worse thing to do with young children is to tell them how things should look or go together. We need to allow them opportunities to create without using our eyes and our ideas. Medium can be anything....anything that you can create from....I have a preschool classroom that are learning about sculptures and they have been amazing!!!! We have used mostly items that would have been thrown away.

Mask making, use the triangular corner of a cardbord box, the perfect shape to build a mask on. They get to do drawing, designing the mask, art history, art from other cultures, modelling (use papier mache to build up features) and painting, all in one project!! And they look fantastic, create a great display and are lots of fun.
