volunteer service with the elderly like meals on wheels or work with the mentally challenged like helping someone train for the special Olympics. You could volunteer time at a local nursing home or with youth activities like with the YMCA.
They also look at what clubs you are involved in at school. Most universities are looking for what they call well rounded students. You may not fit the ideal if you are a math genius and only are in the math club. They want to know that you fit in with lots of different people. Hope this helps.
