There are good and bad things.

Good: No more worrying about what to wear.
No more feeling like you don't look as good/rich as your classmates.
No more jokes about what you did choose to wear.
No competition of any kind, everyone else has on what you do, so all the problems that follow new sneaks, cool sweatshirts, all that is gone.

Clothing is much cheaper, often.

Bad: No self expression, but that can be done out of school. No showing off what you do have to wear. Everyone looks like a dork at first, but soon it grows that everyone just looks normal. No hiding you are skipping, lol.

Overall, I love the idea. I would have said no way when I was in school, but would have had a lot less to worry about once the adults forced the issue and made us wear uniforms.

I used to be completely against school uniforms. However, I currently teach in a school with uniforms, and it's much different. The students act differently - there are less conflicts about personal differences (clothing, looks, money, etc.). The students are more respectful. I didn't think that uniforms would make a difference, but it does!

Plus, the kids always look nice for pictures and such!

I can't say I love to wear school uniform. But I must say that I agree with it, however horrible or potato-sack like it is. Some teenagers would be making a show of their clothes while others would bo mocked at because they have a limited range of clothes. There'll be constant unhealthy competition and this would degrade the learning atmosphere of the school. So I'll say that school uniform is a necessary evil.

all though they are not the cutest things i think they are a great idea and all schools should have them. the less fortunate kids who do not have the money for nicer clothes or name brands would not get teased about what they are wearing. schools are not really enforcing the dress codes they have so some kids dress very skimpy and many overweight kids are wearing the belly tops and low waist pants just to keep in style which only gets them talked about behind their backs
