Primary & Secondary Education - January 2007

Like I said, I'm a High School Sophmore (10th grade). I'm required to take Applied Physics to graduate, but I don't understand anything I've been taught this year. I have a loose grasp on the basics (things learned from BIll Nye and School House Rock).

Heres my problem: If I drop the class, I have to take it again next If I don't maintain a 2.0 GPA I get kicked out of the school.year or I don't graduate. What should I do?

The teacher is of no use, all he has us do is read ou of the book, do a few labs and take tests. He never lectures or explains for the purpose of clarification, and instead has students whiteboard and in essence do his job for him.

Additional background: The Teacher will not answer questions and tell My grades, needless to say aren't spectacular in this class. Next, I should tell you that I do the work, I just misplace it between the time he grades it and collects it.

remember subjects such as chemistry, physics and maths?

What is your process (sucessful only) to remembering processes and equations in these 3 subjects? I am going into Year 11. I feel that I can only remember about half of what I should know by now (don't get me wrong...I do very well in these subjects but when I go onto another part of each of the subjects..I can't remember what I've learnt previously..I feel like I am only remembering some of it in my short memory. What is your process (in detail) for sucessfully remembering and memorising things so that you can regurgitate/retrieve (for want of a better word) the information when needed? I can't remember everything (in particular in maths) from what I learnt in Year 10.
I need your help! I really want to do well in my subjects this year and I don't want to waste time learning and relearning things. Thankyou for your time.

well, ok this is the question: you bike from your house to school, cover in a distance of 3km in 15 min. what is your average speed in kilometers per hour?

well i got .2 or something, it might not help a lot because i don't know what is less than kilometers, im just an american who would usually use the old english system.

They say he can stay after school where they have after school tutoring but shouldn't they stand by him one on one. Help him everyday and make sure he is doing good in his classes. He is mainstreamed. I would like answers soon please. His other school gave him good progress. I think it is wrong and he should get better care. Can I get some advice and answers please?

He is very bright and catches on quickly, but he is slacking on his homework to the point that the teacher is afraid he won't pass 3rd grade because of his missed assignments. This kind of ramification doesn't seem to affect my son. When he's doing his homework he comes to me and says I don't want to to do my homework anymore. I know that there's a certain amount of dollars a school (I'm dealing with elementary schools here) gets from the government per child. Does anyone happen to know what that amount is for Oregon or where I could find out? If you tell me a number, I'll need a reference I can go look at for where you found it.
