I have a 7 year old who is struggling with reading. I am trying to find some more resources for him. I was wondering if anyone new of a child website that helps kids advance in their reading while having fun? We read all the time at home but we just need some fun stuff for him to interact with.

Comic books are an excellent way to encourage reading. Especially with boys, who may not necessarily like books without pictures. You need to make sure that you pick out non-adult titles. Some of the popular manga (those are Japanese comics) have been made into TV programs. So if he likes watching Dragon Ball Z or Naruto, then go to the book store and get him some of the English language translated manga. You will be surprised at the level of vocabulary that is in comic books these days.
My mother was a special education teacher, and she swore by the comic book method when encouraging kids to read who were otherwise bored by trying to read by themselves.
There are also many online spelling games.

There are fun games for kids to play that advance their reading. I'm giving you some links to places you can find software. If you don't want to buy new, at least look around and find the names of some software suitable for him and then look on ebay. I hope this helps!

Look for computer games that will make him read and answer questions for advancement in a game. Also, I am really opposed to sight reading and learning how to break a word down to say it phonics are the Best word to learn. First however have his eyes tested and make sure he does not have dyslexia
