I'm getting alot of bad grades. Not a bunch of F's, but Cs and Ds. One F in Spanish. My friend is getting B's and A's. She's currently on the merit role. I really am friends with her, but next year I go to the high school and I think that the teachers are going to put us in teams depending on our grades. There are still two quaters left until 8th grade is left. Do I have a chance to still be in her team? Also, since I'm in 8th grade, if I were to get straight A's for the rest of my school life, would I still have a chance at Harvard, even though I've been making average since I was in 1st grade?

My 10 year old son is in 4th grade and doesnt know how to write or read in cursive. I have spoke to his teacher about this and she stated that there wasnt enough funding to cover cursive and because most writing was done on the compter now-a-days that there wasnt a need for it. I was just wondering what other parents thought of this and if you had a child around the same age are they, or have they learned it? Thanks a heap!

Hi,
I formerly attended the best school of all time then my family moved and I started going to a bad catholic high school. My old school we a public charter school, it had all the perks of a public school but you had to have a 2.0 or higher to stay in the school (aka - no idiots). I hate my new school. It has been a semester and I have given it a try trying to make friends. The kids are not bad and the classes are not that great but ok. I liked my old school best but we moved out of state so I cannot go back. I recently found another public charter school were we moved but the academics are not as good. I can compensate for the academics with an online high school, but is it worth trading the education for the better environment? Its the vice principal and all of the stupid, pointless, creativity restricting rules that drive me nuts. All answers are appreciated. Thanks!

I'm 16 years old. I live with my grandmother in Michigan. Last year my mom and my dad died suddenly. After that, everything changed. I just can't be happy, and I'm sick of feeling sorry for myself. For a long time now I've wanted to drop out of high school, and get my GED, and then go to a college out of state. Move away, and get a fresh start. I'm a smart girl with a 3.87 GPA, so it shouldn't be that hard. Can I get an apartment of my own if I work? Do I have to become emancipated? What are the steps in doing all this? Well, if someone out there can give me some type of advice or anything it will be very much appreciated. Thanks.

I am a single mom. I work full time and go to school part time. I am persuing a teaching degree, but by going part time it will take me 10 years to fully reach my goal. I love kids and would love to live my dream, but in this day and age things do not come cheap. In addition to high education costs, a teacher's salary is nothing to be desired. do I continue to work towards my teaching degree, or should i change my major and graduate earlier with something that pays more so I can better take care of my son? In the end teaching will make me happier, but my son needs the "now"...

This is for an essay I'm writing, and I read a BBC article written in 2001, saying that the government were thinking about creating more church schools. I was wondering if they went ahead with it or not. Thanks

I'm desperate to get into teaching and have applied for more than 100 jobs for a teacher's assistant but haven't had any luck. Being a single parent now, I can't afford to go into university to study to become a teacher. I have been in IT in the past and have been tutoring Spanish for the past 5 years, but it is a job that hasn't got the stability that my children and I need. Any suggestions? I have been trying in the Essex area but I'm willing to go into London. Please help!!!

I am currently going to school to receive my degree in elementary education. So far I am a straight A student and received wonderful marks on my Praxis exam. I also happen to have rheumatoid arthritis, which sometimes renders me to a wheelchair. My wish is to teach anywhere from 4th to 8th graders. How will this effect my ability to get employed?
