Do colleges discriminate based on sexuality? I am applying for colleges and am wondering if mentioning my homosexuality would be beneficial to me, showing my own personal hardships, or actually hinder my chances? I am applying selective schools (Princeton, Yale, Cornell) and would like to know what I should do. I am in no way ashamed of mentioning it, but with something as important as college admission, I need to be careful. Any information or advice would be helpful.

Senior in college, wondering if choosing a law school abroad is a wise idea or not... would appreciate any advice for people who have had similar situations or have considered this possibility. This is NOT about a study abroad in law school.

Tragically, I found this article online about a recent college grad that apparently fell into the trap of a 19-year old's ruse about a job that he advertised on craigslist: http://origin.twincities.com/ci_7299353

It is unfortunately a prime example that no one really can't trust anyone else, even from a well-known job search site. Please be safe and 'if it just doesn't feel right, it probably isn't right'.

If I want to attend med school, which major should I take during my first 4 years at Berkeley, or just at any university in general? Biology is great, but it's got too much plant stuff in it as well. What are some more specific majors?

I am a 27 year old male. I have been working full time for a nonprofit making $33k a year for the last year and a half(before that I worked part time for the same org. making $9/hour) I am also half way to a bachelors degree in finance at a local university. During the past couple of years I have been going part time to school which has worked out ok. I am getting to the point now where I really want to finish my degree and go to school full time and get it over with!so I am considering quitting my job at the end of this year or going to a part time position again so I can give my all to finishing school. Financially, I have $30k saved up and my rent and billls are very low. . I also make a few hundred bucks a month selling on ebay on the side which pays my bills. What advice would you give me? I am a very smart person but in the past have made some bad choices when it comes to school work etc. I am going for a degree in finance & accounting. What should I do?

I dont know where to start, the first thing is that I'm not very bright like I got kicked out of a prestigious all girls catholic school when I was gr.5 (I'm second year high school now) and I'm studying at a small school regular school. (Some of the seniors get into pretty great colleges so it feels good to know that) and my mom told me yesterday (In public at shakey's) that I'm going to be a burden to my sisters (My sisters are looking at really bright futures) when she and my dad dies, that after I got kicked out she left my academics alone (I'm doing normal like B+ to C- after I got kicked out for some reason) and she said that my phycologyst said that I'm a slow learner and that my other one said that I have trouble concentrating. She said she made me try for so many different things like gymnastics, tennis, dancing and I fail in everything she said I might as well learn how to clean the house while they're gone so that I'll accuire some skills so that I can be a maid.

I did a university degree, and a postgraduate certificate and I don't believe I got what I paid for. Is there anything I can do about it?

I have to start this essay for my dream school and since I started the application process I've been procrastinating writing the essay (I know, not a good thing) because I feel like I don't really know how to start. I have my point, I know what I want to say and kinda how to answer the question and keep the topic, but I don't know how to start it.....

I know I know... lame to ask but I need help, if I don't get admitted in this school I'll be forever sad that's why I'm so stressed and I don't want to make any mistake. Another thing, I'm ESOL and I'm afraid of mistakes since english is not my 1st language. Do you know about any web site that can help? any advices?

Thanks a lot, I'll be forever greatful!

I'm attending a college with a bad reputation. My major isn't even here but this is where I ended up.I made every attempt to go elsewhere but still ended up here.I can do a program where I can get my general studies then transfer somewhere better and recieve all my credits.I can just transfer somewhere and lose some of my credits. This is just my freshman year so I have time to change my mind. What do I do.The college that I am at now don't really give you the college experience except for living in the dorm.No football team and its a black college.Do I give up my credits for a better school or do I transfer through the program the college where I am transferring to is USC (South Carolina) major is electrical engineering.I attend Morris but its not bad it has mess up accreditations. If I stay it won't my junior year before I can transfer unless I take summer classes.I've made friends here I'd make friend through the engineering program because I'd be at USC a lot doing research in summer.

First of all, I am a sophmore in high school and began my serious college search last year. I'm curious about majors and minors. Do they have to relate at all? For example, I'm considering Music and Marine Biology for my major, and International Studies for my minor. Is that acceptable? And is studying those different things possible?

One more thing: Does anyone know what the average college marching band season is and how often they practice? Because I'm in that now and want to continue it in college but it depends on the schedule because I also want to study abroad for a semester each year.

Thanks!

I am having trouble choosing what to minor in between mass communication and art. I am a computer science major (Junior) and I plan to do scientific and artistic things with my career.

I would minor in communications because I love to write screenplays and television shows and also get involved in media producing such as television, and computers and I would one day want to make my own movie.

I would minor in art because I love making art (even though I can be self-conscious) and I would love exhibiting my artwork, and develop my skills as an artist.

Overall I am a creative and scientific person and people usually tell me to minor in communications because its more practical. I have to admit I am leaning towards art for some reason, but can anyone tell me the realistic pros and cons of these minors and how they would compliment my major (if they do).
