i know people say "rutgers is ranked higher" but i'm just really turned off to rutgers because its so ridiculously close to home and i hate where i live (i'm a NY person, and i wanna go BACK! =] ) how is baruch for undergrad? i hear its reputation is really rising and my ultimate goal is going to NYU for gradschool...my plan is to do really well on my GMAT and in school and start working as a stock broker//consultant with my cousin's firm as soon as i'm 18 so hopefully i'll have a strong application...anyway yeah so i'm really considering baruch, and i know i'll efinately get in...what is your opinion of it? someone told me as far as academics go, its pretty much equal to rutgers, its just that rutgers is a state U so it gets higher rankings and all....please help!

I know my mental disabilities, stress, financial issues, family problems, & Hurricane Katrina contributed to me doing poorly in college, but I graduated with a 2.3 avg. & had a 2.8 avg. in my major. I know I could've done better, but the problems I had held me back. Now I'm in a grad PREP program, back in school, trying to see if I can raise my GPA so I can try to get into Grad school, which there's no guarantee I'll get accepted. Now, I got a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish & nothing to show for it, since the curriculum emphasized on Medieval Spanish & "Courtly Love". & very little to do with Grammar, vocabulary, & the language itself. & most of the courses were taught about Spanish subjects in the English language or bilingually, which wasn't any help. & I graduated from college last year & haven't had a Spanish course since 2005. & I lost my vocabulary. Now I have to learn Grammar all over again & study much harder to become the translator/interpreter that I dream to be.

I am going into my junior year of college. Is it still possible to acquire a GPA of at least a 3.5 by the time I graduate without having to get straight A's in everything?

I want to go to Boston college but I am not sure if its possible for me. I have a 2.1 GPA and chances are its going to fall even more because the school refuses to help me out with my conditon. I have a learning disability and they are very reluctant to do anything about the future or my past grades. I have taken AP Euro (i got a 4 on the exam) I took AP US (grade not yet known) and I took AP English (I got a 3 on the exam). What are my chances of getting into the university? I have asked my counsler and he wont help and I have no clue about colleges since I wasn't born here (I was born in Ukraine but I am a US citizen). So what are my chances on acceptance?

One additional question to those who can answer this. How likely would it be able for me to sue the college into accepting me on the stance of discrimination against the mentally disadvantaged?

That's what somebody told me just today. Back then, I thought that if you LIED about being a felon, then you couldn't get financial aid but you can still go to college. Maybe I'm getting this all confused. But I know this girl who's on probation with the law, & she's 17 & going to college, but her guardian is paying for it out of pocket. Do you think she perhaps LIED on her application?

I've been having a hard time deciding what is it that I want to do with my life in terms of what I want to study. I think it is particulary because my interests seem complete opposites from what I think. I love art and fashion and was thinking of becoming a fashion designer, something I'm really good at, or an illustrator or graphic artist of some kind because I'm great at drawing. Aside from having artistic talent you could say I'm a very smart person and I love the fields of biology and anything that has to do with nature and ancient history and archeology. I have an immense knowledge of history, have read many important books, know countless things about ancient civilizations and the natural world and have an interest in doing something for it since its being practically destroyed. I'm having a really hard time choosing and would like some help. My school doesn't have a counselor that can help me and I want help from someone that is used to helping people with this kind of dilemma.

I am interested in getting an MBA, with a concentration in either finance or general business.

My undergraduate degree was in computer science, so I was never required to take a business or even economics class to graduate.

Now I am faced with a decision. Should I take some business classes (or finance, economics, etc) at a local community college before applying to graduate business school, or should i instead invest that time and effort into a GMAT preparation course?

They always tell you what to go to school for and what majors pay the most money. What really erks me the most is when they say if I could do it all over again I would but I always think you had to be my age to get to your age.

what do you guys think of this?

I am seriously considering the career choice of an optometrist and I would like to know if anyone here is an optometrist! I am currently attending a community college to gain my Associate Science degree and I have been looking through various colleges to see where I should go! I would just like to know what other eye doctors have done for their education, how they were able to find a job, APPROXIMATELY how much the job pays, and if you truly do enjoy your job! Thanx so much!

I am attending Southern CT State Uni. this fall. Although, I would to transfer to a competitive college after I get my grades up from high school. I slacked off heavily in my soph and junior years. What is the likelihood that I can transfer to a school such as NYU or BC, provided I get good grades at SCSU?
