That's what somebody told me just today. Back then, I thought that if you LIED about being a felon, then you couldn't get financial aid but you can still go to college. Maybe I'm getting this all confused. But I know this girl who's on probation with the law, & she's 17 & going to college, but her guardian is paying for it out of pocket. Do you think she perhaps LIED on her application?

if she's 17, she's a juvenile and recod will be sealed...if she lies, so what...they can't prove it. but your thinking is right. although sometimes admissions committees will ignore the applications from felons...but i'll deny it if you cite me

You can go to college if you are on probation or have a felony. There may be some type of degrees that someone would be unable to earn because of his/her criminal record, but a person on probation or a convicted felon can go to college.

It's the school's policy to determine wether the person is eledgible or not. A guy in my school was in jail for 9 months, but the school gave him a chance. I think it would also depend on what courses a person is taking. drug convicted felons would probably have a very hard time, if not impossible getting into the pharmasy program for example.

OF course you can still go to college, that would be discriminatory. But, depending on the type of college (Ivy League, etc.) it could hinder your chances of being accepted. It sounds like the financial aid aspect might be true, but no college can actually decline you only BECAUSE of a conviction.

This is up to the institution's acceptance standards. Felons, or persons on probation are not prevented-by law- from attending, but certain colleges may not accept them.

You can go to college with a criminal history. You just may be prohibited from certain majors/programs. Also, depending on what type of offense you may not be eligible for financial aid.

You can go to school if you are a felon... you just can't get financial aid.

No, that is absolutely false. It doesn't stop you from going to school or getting financial aid. I am on prob. and have felonies and I am going to school in the fall and getting fin. aid.

You can go to college if they choose to accept you.
Can't stop someone from lying about it. Schools would have to run every name that comes through. I wonder if they have enough time, before enrollment.
If they find you have a record, they can still accept or reject. Depends on how they feel about your crimes. References would be needed from everyone involved.
