I'm askin this because I'm planning on buying a DVD player for my TV, but I know that you can hook up the portable player to the TV so it basically IS a regular DVD player PLUS you can watch it in the car etc.... so basically I'm just asking if theres any thing better about a regular DVD player than a Portable DVD player doesn't have, cause if there isnt then I dont see why everybody doesnt just get portable ones.

Does anybody else think electric toothbrush companies are squeezing the pennies out of our pockets? I do admit that using an electric toothbrush gives a dentist clean feel, but I still get the same results if I brush harder with a regular toothbrush and floss. Not to mention, I find it very odd that none of their rechargeable battery operated units are replaceable. You have to buy a brand new $100+ electric toothbrush every time it dies (mind you, that doesn't include the 10$+ replacement heads). I've personally gone through 3 electric toothbrush units. My digital camera, PDA, Digital Audio Player, and several other electronic devices are all replaceable "rechargeable lithium ion battery" operated equipments. I don't see why an electric toothbrush shouldn't also do the same. Could you imagine throwing out your Digital Camera every time the rechargeable battery died? It's ridiculous. Does anybody know of an electronic rechargeable toothbrush unit that also sells replacement batteries?

I got 10-mile walkie talkies and they were working fine to start out - around the block, testing a little further, etc. Perfect. But as soon as I started to drive away from the other person, the connection got staticy and then dropped altogether - and I was not a mile down the road!

Our houses are 5, maybe 6 miles apart and we get nothing. Could it be the fact that bad weather was coming in? Or the fact that they're cheap? Or the fact that there are many housing communities and trees around here in our area? I realize it could be any combination of those factors and others, but I was just hoping for some insight or tips for these to work for us from one house to the other.

Thanks!

They are the Uniden GMR1038-2, running on 4 AAA batteries. 22 channels, up to 99 subcodes, 10 mile range.

I may be headed into the California mountains this summer for three months. The camp has no electricity. I am, like, totally into this except that I do not wish to be without internet access. Soooo---lets say I have a laptop (I do not) and a cell phone (ditto) and want to be able to recharge them using solar or wind power. What are some devices that can achieve these goals for me?

i am doing a study of the opinion of the general public on US laws. what do you think about taxes, school laws, gun laws, privacy laws, banned material, censorship, general rights and freedoms, etc? not limited to these just a general topic where any opinion about anything is accepted. due to confusion i will state why i have chosen categories not involving the question asked, which is simply put that you can not get a general opinion by addressing a single group, and i know many of us don't get on here and go strait to law and political sections to comment on. therefor i am addressing many groups, from many ages, backgrounds, and interests, not singling out a group only interested in such matters. thanks.

So I'll give you guys the lowdown: I burned this particular VCD last night using Nero Express. The video quality was really good. The only problem I had was the fact that there were no sounds! The only sound I could hear were screeching sounds. I really don't know what happened.

I just moved to an area that has lousy cell coverage. Does anyone have an idea about how to jerry-rig something to improve reception.? ie wrap a wire around the antennae on the phone---stand on one foot and put finger in ear while holding phone between my elbows?

Seriously this is a serious question-I neeeeeeeeeeeeed the phone for emergencies [mine-heart transplant ] and I can't get DSL or cable for the puter so that lines tied up most of the time.

While we're on the subject ---- what setups do ya'll find optimal for phone/puter set-up. Which ISP do you prefer or just get the cheapest one since I can't go high speed?

Hi there,

I have a Korg Triton Studio and it says on the back 117V 50/60hz 38w - I bought it in the USA but being in the UK I'm not sure if i need to convert the power supply. It has a power socket on the back and it's the same type of socket which you get on the back of power supply units (psu) on computers. What do i need to do? thanks.
