I'm askin this because I'm planning on buying a DVD player for my TV, but I know that you can hook up the portable player to the TV so it basically IS a regular DVD player PLUS you can watch it in the car etc.... so basically I'm just asking if theres any thing better about a regular DVD player than a Portable DVD player doesn't have, cause if there isnt then I dont see why everybody doesnt just get portable ones.

In a portable DVD you pay for the LCD screen, so it is usually more expensive than a regular DVD player.

Your portable DVD player should have at least component out (R/G/B ports)

Portable DVD players may not have digital audio out.

You may need an external "brick" to power a portable player (or rechargable batteries)
