How bad is corrosion to electronic appliances and computers when living beside the beach?

Haven't had any problems yet, the cars get rusty real fast.

It can be really nasty. Salt air is the worst thing for electronics, as any boat owner can tell you. Military electronics are specially made to be resistant with special coatings on the circuit boards, gold contacts and water/vapor seals everywhere. Consumer products are generall made very cheaply. Keep them indoors with the AC on and you'll be OK. Bring them out on the balcony while watching the crashing waves and you'll soon be replacing them.
