How do i rewire my telecaster properly?

i have a 1972 mij left handed telecaster and i pulled the jack out ( not on purpose ) and both the black and white wires have came loose and im not sure which wire goes to which connector can anyone help?Also is there anything i need to know about putting the jack back in properly after i have rewired it? thanks

You need to examine the controls on your guitar and determine which of the two wires is signal "ground." This wire will go to the part of the jack that contacts the sleeve of the 1/4" plug. The other wire will go to the tip connection.

Also, I'd be concerned about why the jack pulled out in the first place.
