I tried out the Cannon 500 series and it takes great pics and is easy to use. I'd prefer one which also acts like a camcorder. Any other brands, or would you take the Canon over all.

Also, what kind of camera takes those panoramic pics?

I have a Minolta DiMage 7Hi Digital Camera in which the Sony CCD (sensor) has failed. I am lead to understand that this was a problem with these sensors but that this has been resolved. My concern is that my camera has now been in the hands of a company reputed to be able to undertake the replacement free of charge for 16 weeks. The last information I received from the company was on the 16th September to say that because of the shortage of these sensors it was going to take months before I could expect the return of my camera. My concern is that after a month of hearing nothing I e-mailed them on Monday last i.e. 16th asking for an update of the situation. They in turn have not had the curtisy of replying. Has enyone out there suffered the same problem?

And don't say steal it!
I am a student photographer, and I used a standard canon digital camera, but I wan't something with more optical zoom that can be digital. I already have a canon film slr that my mom used to have, and frankly it is quite old and a hassle to carry around. I decided it might be best if I went ahead and invested in an slr, but i know those are extremely pricey! So, do you know where the best deals are for slr cameras, both on and offline?

Or, if not, do you know what the best slr STYLED digital cameras are that are out there?

Thank you so much!

I'm looking to buy a new compact digital camera (I already have a digital SLR). I'm not so much interested in the latest gimmicks or an extreme number of megapixels or zoom range; my main criterion is lens quality.

I'd be grateful for recomendations on which camera(s) exhibit the least vignetting and curvature of straight lines at the corners of the image. I'm happy to pay a premium price for this but if you know of any bargains, I wouldn't mind hearing about them too!

Thanks.

I've never owned a photo printer, and am looking around for something quick. I'll be printing 4x6 shots onto a 8.5x11 photo frame. So do I use the 31ppm speed or the 4x6 speed to determine how quickly these prints will come out?

It seems that almost everytime I press the shooting button halfway down so that it will focus, I get the orange light instead of the green light telling me that the picture is in focus.

I always keep my settings on Auto, and don't have Macros set up or Manual Focus. So I'm wondering if this is something that happenes to all Cannons? Or if there is a way to fix it besides using the "fixed focus" trick that is in the users guide, which doesn't work to well either?
