I am going to Africa to take pictures of documents in archives. The materials are not in good shape and the archive is poorly lit with flourescent lights. I've heard that some digital cameras have a feature that is especially useful for taking black and white pictures (although these would be primarily ivory/beige and black). Has anyone heard of that or could you give me suggestions of brands, models that would best do the job? Any resources out there especially for people working in archives? Thank you.

and i need a reliable strong digital camara that can take a long road, needs little maintanance (probably cant fix it on the road) , preferably has long battery life, and can take good nature photos (although not profesional ones, of course)
my brother offered to take with me his sony cyber-shot DSC-S40, with 4.1 mega pixels
is it sufficiently good for what i mentioned (i dont feel like spending money if i dont have to..)
thanks in advance!!!

Hi all, I have a number of old 35mm SLR autofocus bodies - 3xi, 5xi, 7000 with a number of lenses: 70-200 f2.8 sigma zoom, 400mm f5.6 sigma telephoto lens, and I am planning to buy a Minolta 5D SLR. I really would like to use these lenses on a 5D SLR body, I know it is possible, BUT I would like some feedback on people who have, or have used the new Minolta 5D. Is the autofocus fast enough?? I take a lot of sport photos: rugby, hockey etc, as well as low light concert photograpy. Can the camera handle the pace??? I would appreciate any feedback. Many thanks!!!

Somebody please help me! I have an Olympus D-370 digital camera. When I turn it on, a blue screen comes up...I have two choices...Format or Cancel. When I choose cancel, the same choices keep coming back. Sometimes it'll let me look at a few pix, but when it gets to a certain pic, it says Card Error and shuts off. When I plug the USB cable in, my comp says the request cannot be performed because of an I/O device error. I've been to Olympus.com to try and troubleshoot the problem, but so far, I haven't found anything anywhere that has been useful. I really need to get my pix off the camera and to my comp. PLEASE I am begging for ANY help that you can provide. Thanks.

I dropped it a couple of times (accidentally), and when I sent it to the manufacturer for an estimate (I didn't expect them to do it for free, it was my fault anyway and my warranty had expired), they said it needed a replacement power circuit board and that was going to cost me $185 for parts and labor, that's $25 more than the actual camera cost. I love my little camera, and if there's a cheaper place to fix it, I would do that, but otherwise where's a good place to recycle it? I don't want to just throw it away.

As I am going to buy a new Nikon D80 DSLR, I am between the 2 lenses. 18 -70 or 18 -135 by Nikon. Does anyone have an opinion on which of the two is a better lens, and why?
