and i need a reliable strong digital camara that can take a long road, needs little maintanance (probably cant fix it on the road) , preferably has long battery life, and can take good nature photos (although not profesional ones, of course)
my brother offered to take with me his sony cyber-shot DSC-S40, with 4.1 mega pixels
is it sufficiently good for what i mentioned (i dont feel like spending money if i dont have to..)

It should do nicely. It's a simple camera but it received good reviews. It has a nice lens with a good range for street photography - but it could be a tad wider for nature photography perhaps; the 4.1 MP sensor is good enough for 5x7 inch prints with the occasional 8x10; it seems rugged enough to survive 5 months on the road; and a pair of batteries should last for over 500 shots (provided you don't use the screen or the flash too much).
