Im a good looking person in real life, clear skin, bright eyes, all that. But when I get my picture taken...i LITERALLY look like a sweaty boy. Even with digital cameras!

Is there a certain kind of digital camera i can buy to make myself look better (i use a sony right now)

How does it work? The larger the sensor, the shallower the DoF you can achieve, right? And the larger the sensor, the larger the amount of megapixels? So a camera with more megapixels will achieve a shallower DoF?

Which camera is the best digital (non SLR) to achieve a good shallow DoF?

In the past few years I've owned Canon PowerShot A75 and Powershot A610 cameras. I was thrilled with both cameras, but unfortunately they didn't last long. I've just gotten a Powershot S3 IS in the past few days, and so far about 90% of my pictures are blurry...and this is in daylight. I was under the impression that the image stabilization feature would reduce the blurriness, which was only present on the other cameras in fairly low light, but the outcome of my pictures on the S3 IS is ridiculous! Am I doing something wrong or could the camera be defective?

Hi,

I currently use a small digital camera, and have recently became more interested in photography, after using flickr....

I would like to gain a better understanding of all of the different settings and how they interact with each other.

Would I be right in thinking, that using a film SLR would be a good idea?? If so, what Camera + Lense/s would you recommend, preferably not too much money (i.e. 2nd hand from ebay).

Thanks for your help,

Ucayman

My criteria are, I would like to buy used on eBay to save money. I don't want a whole lot of confusing extra features. I want the camera to NOT distort colors greatly, and I would like to take very close up pictures, and I want the pictures to be crisp. Does anyone know where I can view actual pictures taken with various cameras? Any suggestions are very appreciated. Thank you.

This photo is of a woman in old timey dress and it is just of her head and shoulders. It is in a old looking frame with beveled glass but there are no markings on the photo. The glass that the picture is actually printed on is white or milky in color. I am just trying to find out if this is an old picture or if it is something that is just made to look old. Any help or advise on where I should look would be greatly appreciated !
