I used the 8700 for two years - exact same but with 8 mega-pixels.
Frankly, it drove me up the wall for not being small enough to fit in my pocket, or fast enough to compete with a digital SLR. It was also terrible in low light situations.
In all fairness though, it took fantastic pictures of sunny landscapes. And that's about all I shot for those 2 years.

This camera was new back in 2002, so good luck finding a new one....perhaps a used one in good condition.
