Try wearing different makeup. Try wearing a flat/mat base rather than a shinny base. The shinny base tend to have reflective compounds in the makeup that reflect and light that comes off the flash right back in to the camera giving you the appearance that you are sweating. Hope that helps

Actually yes. Most people that look good on camera are rather homely in real life. The camera exaggerates weight and under represents facial features. This means that to look good on film you should have a real big nose, a huge mouth, large eyes like an owl, and be rake skinny. When you see models in real life they usually look like concentration camp victims.Like caricatures of real people. If you are having a photo taken for show your only real answer is proper theatrical make up, but proper lighting and a photo taker who understands how a camera deals with light and shadow help. If you are photographed from the front with lighting from the front your features will disappear in the cameras image of you. There is more, but there is not enough space to even begin to explain it.
Maybe you should speak to a professional photographer. At least if you know a bit about this you can avoid basically bad photos from being taken. You will know enough to go for side lighting to get enough shadows from your features on your face so that they show on film.
never look At the Camera, look beside it, and smile.

Hmmm...don't know about a magical camera.
If you have your photo taken (especially with a flash), it will pick up on any oils or shine on your face (thats why everyone on tv etc gets a thorough dusting of facepowder to stop the shine).
Obviously, professional photographers have the right equipment, lighting and know-how, to get great shots..though they will still use software to make it all perfect.
One solution is to use Photoshop or Paintshop Pro etc... they have various functions that can help with flaws of any kind. You just have to take the time to learn how to use them, thats all.

I don't take good pics either (except for a glamour shots thing--not the franchise, a private photographer.) My dad's taken one or two good pics, as has my boyfriend. Usually, I just dodge the camera.

Soft focus - either in the camera or in Photoshop - will help.
