Tough call...

I can't stand the idea of owning a camera with NO optical viewfinder, though, so I'd lean towards the Canon. You don't always want to be sticking your camera way out in front of your face, not to mention, LCD's can be hard to see in the sunlight.

Then again, the Panasonic has greater zoom power AND the image stabilization that you will need to take advantage of it.......

I own a panasonic (Luminex) 5 meg'pixel digital cam myself, it has far more ability to take & edit your photoes before you remove the SD card for printing. the optical zoom is equivilent to 400mm lens then you have the digital zoom to play with. But if its too hard & you require a simple camera without all the extras the Canon is good choice for easy operation.

The Panasonic, it has slightly higher MP and more optical zoom, both of which are important. Plus it has the built in 14MB, whihc is also a slight plus.

No owner's review for the LZ3 though...
I would go for the Canon for the image quality, however, the extra optical zoon range is very attractive.
