If you are thinking of buying a 512 MB card and don't have one to check by putting in your camera, look in your owner's manual.

If you lost your manual, you can do some estimates and some calculations. A 4 MP camera will make files about 2-2.5 MB in size for an "average" full size, maximum resolution picture. Sometimes more and sometimes less. The theoretical MAXIMUM would be 4 MB, right?

Half a billion divided by 4 million = 125 pictures.

This would be for the largest, high resolution photos you could take.

If the file size if more like 2.5 MP, though:

Half a billion divided by 2.5 million = 200 pictures.

Do the math to draw your own conclusions about lesser file sizes.

If you shoot a mid-size photo with "normal" resolution, you might even be able to get about a thousand on the card. Check your manual for details.

It's true it does depend on the resolution of the card, the smaller the more you can hold and the bigger the less. But i have an XD 128 mb card for my olympus camera and it holds 105 pics at 2560 x 1920 resolution and if i move it down to 640 x 480 it can hold up to 720 pics. So i would assume your 512 could do at least 2 times the amount mine can.

The exact number of photos a memory card will hold depends upon the "resolution" of each picture. Page 58 of the Kodak Z700 manual gives the following data: For 4MP pictures: 256 Mbyte SD card holds 196 photos. For 3.5 MP pictures: 218. For 3.1MP pictures: 242. For 2.1MP pictures: 351. For 1.1MP pictures: 588. I presume you could double those numbers for a 512 Mbyte SD card.

relies upon on what colorings are contained in the image. If theres extremely some white, the image is "warmer" and takes better ok. SO enable's see. the conventional image.. lets say three hundred kb. 1024 KB in a MB 1024 MB in a GB round 12,000 pictures. (possibly better, and thats in case you only take pictures) And videos, searching on length... a 20 second clip will be everywhere from 600 KB to three-4MB. relies upon on how tremendous it really is.. On my 2 megapixel telephone 20 seconds is three hundred kb, so i'd imagine 700KB on yours. So, possibly a million,000-4000 video clips. Its lots although.

depends on the resolution of the pics...the higher the resolution, the more memory it takes up and the less you can store
