I never understand what the word economical means.Let a salesperson show you the Canon Powershot A620 or Powershot
A520. To me that's economical since cameras could go over a thousand bucks. Don't buy junk.

Kodak is among the easiest to use digital cameras and I would highly recommend it much better than HP. For super compact point and shoot with great battery life and easy to use... I would recommend Casio... Z57... Kodak 6440 or 6340 good mid size camera point and shoot... Hope this helps. Now if your question was... which is the best camera for the money... I would have to say Canon.

I have a sony dsc-s500. This is my first digital camera, and I found it very easy to work with. It has 6 megapixels and I paid about $170.00. Which I found was reasonable for a sony with 6 megapixels.
