See if there is a camera club in your city or area. Take some classes in photography. Do research on what types of careers are available. Don't give up if it is something you like - you can always learn more. I worked as a photojournalist for a newspaper and enjoyed it, but I was in my 20s. Then, 10 years later won a Kodak honorable mention award at a show in New York - really, really far away from where I am in Canada.
So, things can happen. See if there are any local contests. I used to enter photos at our local fair. No big prize money, but it was fun to see what kinds of pics I won over, and which I lost to.

I would guess that you are a little too young for that job but don't give up n be a photographer.
If your school has a school paper maybe you can try doing photography for them. If not see if you can get one started.
Just take pictures for the heck of it.
or start a photo blog to show the world the pictures you took

No don't give up on photography but hold off on looking for a job right now. There are laws in place depicting age requirements and work load for employers. They probably turned you away because of your age, not your qualifications. Good luck.

You should never give up, if this is your passion. Not all opportunities or paths in life exhibit themselves immediately.
Certainly, you've heard the saying, when God closes one door, he opens another.
Keep trying and keep shooting photos. Something good will come up. Also, you are young. Life will give you many opportunities.
This is an opportunity to show the world what you can do!

I guess at the 14 they think you are too young as you dont have any qualification or much published experience. Stick at it if you are passionate.
Perhaps ask for work experience as a photography assistant?

What ever you do, DON'T give up. You will have a lot of rejections in the photography field. Keep at it and soon enough you will be so good that nobody will turn your art down.
Good Luck!!

No - don't give up. Even though they do not hire you, you can still take photos of news events and sell the photos to the newspapers as a free lance photographer.
That's how Peter Parker got his start at the Daily Bugle.

Don't despair. If you don't have a large body of work, you might not be marketable yet. Your age may have something to do with this. Keep submitting photos to the newspaper. Even if they don't hire you, you may get published, and that's a big help for the future.

Yes. Most states you have to be 16 to be employed. Check with your local unemployment office to find out the laws.
