I have heard comments when people look at my snaps about what camera am i using. Snaps are judged more technically then human aspects. I am not looking for kudos but doesnt human eye matter much much more than the 'dummy' camera?

my vote is 70/20 with eye in favor.

I have a Nikon CoolPix L3 camera and when I first got it I had about half an hour of movie that I could work with... now, 2 months later, with a clean memory card, I am only about to use about half of that. Where did the extra 15 minutes go and how do I get it back?

The blue casing is destroyed, but there is a large piece of the green and the entire black insides that we managed to save. I have tried Ritz and they sent it back saying it is not recoverable. The pictures are from a recent vacation to somewhere where we will not go again. I know I should have kept them away from the dog. I thought I did, but she climbed a shelf on the bookcase. I need to know what else I can do or if anyone else has saved photos from this type of disaster. I have callsed the SD and got a recomendation to call this other company, but they said that it could not be done either. I refuse to believe these photos are lost forever. Please help.

I'm thinking about buying a Canon SD600 and it only comes w/ a 16MB memory card, but I have no idea how many pics I can even take with that. Should I look into getting a card with a larger memory?

... one can alter image very well in photoshop? Is it worth spending thousands on top class camera? I can understand lense investments and other accessories. But is my assumption true that one can alter image (using photoshop) from say Canon Rebel XT to make it look as beautiful as it would come out from say Canon 30D? If true then why buy 30D?

All this camera previews and comparison shots show differences but photoshop is powerful enough to make colors better, sharpen images, add motion blurs, reduce exposures, improve contrasts, etc etc....

so why not go hollywood way? Afterall the end results matter. Am I missing anything here?

I have all the basic gizmos for home studio. I am now looking for a decent camera - my budget is max 1500 but open for additional 100's if better picture available. I am good at Photoshop so it is possible on my side to do a good post processing on images.

My bottomline is which is the best camera - picture quality wise keeping functionalities, ease of use, body material, grip aside?

I hope I'm misunderstanding it, but the manual says that only windows 98 & 98SE users should install the USB Driver. Does that mean I can't use the camera with my windows 2000 computer? If not how do I?

I am considering buying an Olympus Stylus 800 8MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom. However, I want to know if the resolution will be good enough to print 8X10 photos. I currently have a Minolta Dimage that I bought in 2002, it's cool it fits in my pocket. I loved it until I tried to print pictures and all I can print are wallets. I want a nice compact camera that I can print 8X10s from. Thanks

I've finally decided to upgrade from 35mm film SLR to a digital camera.
Can I expect the same nuances and effects as with 35mm film eg: will experimentation with shutter speed, apature, ASA/ISO, focal length, etc produce the same or similar effects as with film?
Thanks in advance for your knowledgable answers and comments.
