FALL BECAUSE IT IS WHEN NATURE SHOWS OFF HER COLOR PALETTE

In Australia, unless you're in the suburbs there are very few places where autumn makes any difference to natures colours - most trees are evergreen (eucalypts, not conifers) so atmospheric conditions have far more importance.
But I think what really matters is how you, the individual, see what's happening in the sky. Interesting clouds? Wait until the sun slips below the horizon, or shoot while it's just kissing the horizon? Perhaps before the sun leaves the clouds? Endless choices.
Just go out, whatever the season, and take photos. At least with digital it won't cost a fortune taking hundreds of experimental pictures! Obviously you like sunsets - have you tried dawn shots?
Lastly, please remember, DON'T look directly at the sun!!! Another advantage of digital photography, just look at the screen. Good luck, good shooting and have fun.

I have to disagree with the previous two answers. Fall (autumn), obviously provides beautiful colours of leaves and foliage, but any time of the year is suitable for sunset pictures.
Where I am right now, (winter in Australia) we have had some glorious colourful sunsets.
As long as you have interesting clouds and the right conditions then you can have a beautiful sunset...any time of the year.
The thing I love most about sunsets is if you miss a good one then you will always have another opportunity the next day, or the day after.........

You'll get the most dramatic skies just before and just after a storm. For this reason, winter is the best. However, on the West Coast, we get our best sunsets after a brush fire. So, summer can also be good.

ACtually summer is good for nice red sunsets where I live. Spring, summer and fall ore good for sunrises and sunsets.
